Welcome to Big 12 Fantasy Football

THE RULES

We, the People of the Big 12 Fantasy Football League, in order to Promote a more perfect game, Disregard domestic tranquility, Scout obscure players in faraway places, Spend inordinate amounts of money on newsstand sports magazines with questionable value, Peer endlessly over columns of stats, and Curse inaccurate injury reports, hereby establish this Constitution as the Official Rulebook for Fantasy Football play. Joe Bryant

 III. Player Draft

A.     Information: The draft will be held at Georges on the 2nd to last (Big 12 South) and last Saturday (Big 12 North) in August at 8:30 am. The entry fee must be given to the Commissioner at this time.  (NO EXCEPTIONS!!!).

 B.  The draft order is determined by drawing numbers from a hat (to take place at separate Pre Draft Party in early summer).

 C.  Owners build their team through a traditional snake draft.  Draft picks in odd numbered rounds are selected in the order of 1 through 12.  Even numbered rounds are reversed and selected 12 down to 1.  For example, the owner who gets the 1st overall pick in the draft would also get the 24th and 25th picks.  Likewise, the owner with the 12th overall pick would also get the 13th draft pick.

  D.   The draft consists of 15 rounds.  Once a draft selection has been presented to the Commissioner, it cannot be   rescinded. (There will be no time limit enforced unless voted for on a majority rules basis).

 E.  You may franchise one player each season. The player must be drafted by you in the 7th round or later to be kept one additional season (kept a maximum of 2 seasons). He must also be on your roster at the end of the season. If you trade or drop the player at any time during the season, you cannot franchise him. If you choose to keep the player, it will take the place of that particular round pick the next year. A franchise player cannot be banned the following year. A franchise player cannot be a team defense.

IV. Rosters

   A. The maximum roster is 15 players.

   B. Each roster must consist of the following: 2 QB, 2 RB, 2 TE, 3 WR, 1 K, 1 DF/PY, and 1 DF/TM.  There are 3 extra positions on the roster.  These players may be from any position.

   C. The final say on roster/position eligibility will be what position the player is listed at on NFL.com.

V. Starting Lineups

    A. Starting lineups consist of the following:

          1 QB, 1 RB, 1 TE, 2WR, 1 K, 1 DF/PY, 1 DF/TM, and 1 Flex Pos player

*New for 2011- Flex starter each week can be RB,WR, or TE

    B. The deadline for submitting starting lineups is 5 minutes before the kickoff of that particular players game.

    C. Regular Starting Lineup: You are responsible for submitting a starting lineup each week. If an owner fails to submit a lineup for a certain week, the lineup from the previous week will be used.  If you have a player off (or injured) that week it is the owners responsibility to let me know.

     D.  Inactive Player Policy: Many times a player is a game time decision as to whether he plays or not.  If an owner submits a player in starting lineup and that player does not play (OUT), another player on the fantasy team can be used under ONE condition The original player did not take one snap (or play at all).  If, however, a starter plays but gets hurt in the middle of the game, the owner is out of luck.  If the owner catches this before Monday night, the next highest player from the draft will be substituted in his place unless another player is designated (IE-you indicate who the #3 WR should be). If you choose to designate an alternate player, the owner must email the commisioner and the opponent for that week to let him know of the choice.

VI.  Transactions / Trades

1.      Free agents may be obtained if an owner waives a player.

2.      For a transaction to be valid, the owner must notify the Commissioner or log into the website to complete the roster move.

3.      A committee of 3 (randomly drawn each year) will decide fairness of a trade.  The Commissioner reserves the right to veto a trade or transaction with his discretion.

4.      Once a transaction has been made, it cannot be rescinded.

5.      You may make only 2 transactions per week (releasing a player and resigning another counts as 1).  Putting a player on IR doesnt count.

*Between draft day and the start of the season, you make up to 2 per week, subject to a total of 3 before the season begins.

6.      There is no limit on the numbers of trades but you cannot trade a player back to the the original owner. No  temporary trades.

7.      Players may be waived at any time for any reason.  When a player is waived, he becomes available in the free agent pool.  He can then be re-acquired or acquired by another team beginning the next day (24 hour lock).

8.   Transactions: Each week, beginning Sunday after the first game of the day starts, through Wednesday 9:00 pm, owners who wish to make a transaction may put in their request online.  Keep in mind that if you decide you want a player you are not necessarily going to get him.  Someone else may put in a request for the same player later that day or later in the week.  If more than 1 owner wants a player, the owner lower in the standings (based on record not points) will get their first choice. If record is the same, points will be used.

Once a player is acquired via a trade or free agency, he must be kept for 1 full week before he can be traded.
You are also not allowed to drop the newly acquired player for a full week unless that player is injured. This does not apply to IR.

IR moves will take precedence over the waiver order. In other words, having someone listed on IR or OUT on our website will trump someone lower in the pts standings.  If more than 1 person is making an IR move, the person lowest in total overal pts will get first choice. However, this is only true if done Tuesday or Wednesday before 6 pm.  In order to place someone on IR, simply check to see if they are listed as IR or OUT on our site, and shoot me an email. The ystem is set up to where Commish has to take the action of adding a player, but an owner can place someone on IR as soon as they notice this.  This doesn't count as 1 of your 2 weekly moves.  So basically if a move is made between Tuesday through Wednesday before 6 pm, it has to be IR/OUT.   You do not get priority for a player if you already have someone on IR and just want to replace that player.

Beginning Wednesday evening at 9 pm, waiver wire system will become first come, first serve. This means between Wednesday night through Sunday 12:00 pm, there is no waiver wire order used. Owners can add/drop as they wish.
layer is
You can now add/drop players on game days up until kickoff.

9.     Making transactions based on quality performance may be done through Week 12.  During Week 13, no transactions can be made unless a player is injured.  The NFL.com injury report determines if a player is injured.  A player must be listed as Questionable, Doubtful, or Out (suspended counts as OUT) in order to be changed.  At this time, all transactions must be emailed to the Commish. Waiver system after week 12 will work just like it does during regular season. Everyone has until Wednesday 9 pm to email their moves (because of injured players). At that time the owner lowest in total overall pts will get priority.  If someone is OUT, he can pick up a guy on Tuesday. Otherwise, for Questionable or Doubtful, he must wait until Wednesday at 9 for move to become official.

*For weeks 14-16, a player must be Doubtful or Out to be replaced.

VII. Injured Reserve

If a player gets hurt and is listed as OUT on NFL.com's weekly injury report, an owner may place him on IR and  pick-up another player at the same position. (Only 2 players at a time may be on IR).  You may replace someone on IR with another player but it will count as one of your two weekly moves unless another player at the same position is OUT.  So basically it won't count as a move if you have two players at the same position hurt.  Once the player is able to play  again, and no longer on the injured list, an owner must release the returning starter or another player to get back to the allowed 15 player roster.  Once a player is listed as Questionable, the owner has until the kickoff of the game for the upcoming week to drop a player.  If the player is Questionable but has a bye the following week, you do not have to make the decision until the following week.  IR is particularly helpful when an owner has a player who is going to be out for several wks.  You cant draft a player & put him on IR.  If you draft a player who is injured, he will take up one of your normal roster spots.

Brand new rule for 2011.
If you have a position and the guy doesn't play for whatever reason (must be listed as OUT) you can replace him with another player that hasn't played that week. You will place on IR and pick up a player. This happened to me the first week. My defensive player plays for a West Coast team and kick off wasn't until 3 pm. About 10 minutes prior to kickoff, he was declared inactive. If this happens, you can replace him with any player whether that be a 3 pm game (if it hasn't started yet) or a Sunday night or Monday night game. You need to email, txt, or call me if you notice this. If you had another player to plug in, that has to be your automatic replacement. This will probably only happen a few times, particularly with a defensive player or kicker, because typically you do not have a backup on your roster. Keep in mind, you cannot replace someone after the fact just because they are on a bye week. They must be OUT. I will notify the opposing owner team as soon as I find this out. I'm trying to keep this as fair and realistic as possible.
The reason this even happens is because you cannot make transactions from 12 pm Sunday through Monday night.

For the Waco league (est in 2011), since we do not have IR, you can replace a player Sunday and/or Monday if they are listed as OUT at the last minute before their game kicks off (inactive). The replacement player has to be a player that has not yet played for the week or who is on a bye. As long as you maintain the required # players at each position, you can drop someone who is OUT and replace with a different position.

Example scenario:

You have Reggie Bush (RB) and he gets hurt.  You place him on IR and replace with Pierre Thomas (RB).  This does not count as 1 of your 2 moves. Later in the same week, you decide you want to get a different RB and drop Thomas.  This will count as a move.  If a different position gets hurt, you can use another IR move but must drop a RB.  For instance, you have Miles Austin (WR) who is listed as OUT. In order to place him on IR and get another WR, you have to drop the RB IR player.

VIII.  League Governance

The Commissioner is vested with the following powers:

a)      interpret the Constitution as he sees just and fit

b)      settle all position eligibility disputes

c)      preside over draft and settle draft disputes

d)      distribute free agents fairly

e)      provide timely weekly reports

f)        maintain integrity of the league and its owners

g)      approve all transactions

IX.  Extraordinary Situations

1.      Amendments to the Constitution are allowed.  For an amendment to be passed, 2/3 of the league owners and Commissioner must approve of it.

2.      If an owner is considered by the Commissioner to be conducting himself in a manner not in the best interest of the league, he may be removed.  However, a warning is issued first.  If the warning fails and 2/3 of the league recommends the owner to be removed he can be dismissed.

This league was founded on the idea of conducting our game of Fantasy Football at a very competitive level.  Each team owner is a major part of this process and is essential in making the league a success.  The main thing to remember is to have fun and maybe if youre good enough youll win some money too.  Good luck!!!

The Survivor Game-

Each week, the owner with the fewest points will be eliminated from the contest.  The contest will span from Week 1 to Week 11.  Once youve been eliminated, you are out for good.  Therefore, if you score the fewest points in a week, but have already been eliminated, the person with the next fewest points is eliminated.  The tie breaker for a particular week if needed will be owner with lowest overall total pts for the season who gets eliminated.

Last one standing wins.

See partial example below:

Week 1:   Carlos scores the fewest pts. and is eliminated ( 11 left)

Week 2:   Shawn scores the fewest pts. and is eliminated ( 10 left)

Week 3:   Jimmy scores the fewest pts. and is eliminated (   9 left)

Week 4:   Shawn scores the fewest pts, but is already out.

The person with the 2nd fewest pts. is out         (  8 left)
